Julie serves as Vice President of the Group Benefits Division for Perkins & Associates. Her career began in the Human Resources field where she served as a strategic business partner to a variety of industries throughout a 15-year span of time. During her human resources career, she was responsible for overseeing benefit packages for the companies where she worked. She gained insight in the challenges faced by companies to offer competitive benefits to attract and retain good employees while staying within budget constraints. She now focuses on providing solutions to companies who are in this same situation. She operates with a great tenacity in order to find the best fit for companies and focuses on providing an outstanding level of customer service to her clients.

She is a graduate of East Surry High School, Surry Community College and Gardner-Webb University. She has been very active in the Mount Airy community currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Mount Airy Tourism Development Authority, Tourism Partnership of Surry County, and the Appearance Commission for the City of Mount Airy. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce and was the Chairman in 2015. She has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Surry Arts Council, Mount Airy Museum of Regional History and United Fund. She lives in Mount Airy with her husband, Greg, and two children, Owen and Olivia.

Somer serves as an Account Executive in the Group Benefits Division for Perkins & Associates. Her career began in her college years while working part-time in the Human Resources Department at a major grocery distributor. During this time, she learned the dynamics of employee benefit plans and how they are managed from a financial standpoint as well as a strategy for employee recruitment and retention.

She transitioned into the insurance industry after graduating from college. For almost 10 years now, she has enjoyed working with clients in large company settings and assisting them with implementation of their employee benefit package. She provides a level of service in which our clients find reassuring and trustworthy. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. While in college, she became a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and coordinated monthly community events with non-profit groups and organizations. She lives in Mocksville with her husband, Ted, and two children, Asher and Aubryn.

Stephanie joined the Group Benefits Division of Perkins & Associates in 2019 after serving 20 years in education.  She is a graduate of East Surry High School, Surry Community College, and Grand Canyon University.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English. During her time as an educator, she mastered skills that will carry over into her job as an Account Manager.  Building relationships and earning trust, just as she did in the classroom, is of utmost importance to her when working with clients.  Her organizational skills and daily preparedness provide a solid foundation when she is managing accounts and handling client concerns.  Her ability to understand the various ways of learning and delivering information provide an advantage when identifying the best means of effective communication.  She looks forward to continuing to work with clients, partners, and carriers of Perkins & Associates. Stephanie lives in Ararat, VA with her husband, Joe.  Together, they raised two children.  Her daughter, Hillary, lives in Greensboro with her husband, Adam, while her son, Tyler, lives in Raleigh, with his wife, Sarah.  Although she looks forward to having grandchildren someday, currently, she and Joe have their hands full with their Great Dane, Ruby.
