Greg is President and CEO of Perkins & Associates. His working career began in the textile industry which provided him with an outstanding set of management and organizational skills that would serve as a strong foundation for what lay ahead. After the devastation of the textile industry in this area, he found himself exploring new ground that led him down a path to the insurance industry.
He began working toward a dream of owning his own company and serving the community he dearly loves. He started his own company in 2004 and set a goal of operating his business with the utmost integrity and unmatched commitment to his clients.
He also believes it is paramount that he operates with an exceptional level of expertise in his field. As a result, he holds numerous highly recognized industry designations that attest to his level of expertise and also his dedication to staying current on insurance and financial topics. He currently holds a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, Charter Financial Consultant designation (ChFC) and Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP). He is also a graduate of Mount Airy High School and North Carolina State University where he holds a B.S. in Business Administration.
He has served the Mount Airy community in a variety of organizations. He has served on the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was Chairman in 2007. He has been a member of Mount Airy Rotary since 2008 and was Rotary President in 2012-13. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Tourism Development Authority and was Chairman in 2013. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, Habitat for Humanity, the Mount Airy/Surry County Airport Authority, the Mount Airy Housing Authority and Downtown Mount Airy, Inc.
He currently resides in Mount Airy with his wife, Julie, and two children, Owen and Olivia.
Mike is a graduate of Mount Airy High School and NC State University. He has 18 years of corporate experience that includes operations/manufacturing, engineering, marketing and sales. During his corporate years he traveled to China, India, Thailand, Turkey, Mexico, Honduras and most of the USA.
In 2012, he joined Perkins & Associates as an independent insurance agent assisting clients with their insurance needs. He continuously studies the insurance industry to ensure he stays up-to-date on current regulation and changes with the insurance carriers. He enjoys meeting with his clients and offering solutions to fit their needs.
He is active in the Mount Airy community having served on the Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and coached sports teams through Mount Airy Parks and Recreation and Mount Airy High School. Currently, he proudly and eagerly serves on the School Board for the Mount Airy City School System. He resides in Mount Airy with his wife, Laura, and two daughters, Audrey and Carrie.
Tammy began her career at Perkins & Associates in 2011 serving as the office manager, and now serves in the role of Client Relations Specialist for Perkins & Associates. She is our clients’ liaison with their carrier and translates highly technical insurance language into understandable terms for them. As a licensed insurance professional, she possesses the skills and patience to compassionately navigate complex medical insurance issues in order to find viable solutions for our clients.
She has extensive experience in banking and tax prep that she uses to help educate and update our clients on procedural, and compliances changes that affect them. She also has a soft spot for military veterans as her husband, Gary, is a U.S. Navy disabled veteran. Due to this close tie to the military, she has a first-hand knowledge of procedures and protocol as it relates to military and Veterans Administration benefits and medical services.
She is a graduate of North Surry High School and pursued a degree in Business Administration and Management from Surry Community College. She is certified in Microsoft and Microsoft Access. She currently lives in Cana, VA with her husband Gary.
Katie joined our team in 2012 serving in several roles before fulfilling the role of Client Services Manager. She has worked tirelessly to modernize our processes and make workflow as simple and seamless as possible in order to continually improve the client experience. Through extensive use of technology, she has improved efficiency and security in our processes that have enabled us to continually improve the services that we offer our clients. She trains other team members on the newest technologies and how we incorporate them into our business. Her responsibilities include answering customer calls and questions, resolving client issues, preparing documentation and data entry, as well as website maintenance and maintaining our social media presence.
She is a graduate of Carroll County High School. She currently holds three associates degrees from Surry Community College; Accounting, Business Administration Arts & Science, and is a licensed agent. She resides in Lowgap, NC.
Angie began at Perkins and Associates in the fall of 2018 as a Customer Service Representative. Angie spent numerous years in the Physical Therapy Department at Twin County Community Hospital and Physical Therapy Services of Galax before leaving to enter the ministry. Angie’s interest in the health insurance industry began at The Life Center in Galax where she did prior authorizations for patient care with their various insurance companies. This is where she learned of all the complex issues of health insurance and decided she wanted to help be a solution for her clients. Angie’s love for people and extensive work experience in several different capacities has given her a knowledge of the importance of insurance and excellent customer service in that field. In addition to her role at Perkins & Associates, Angie also serves as the pastor of Ivanhoe Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Her degrees include an Associates in Nursing from Twin County School of Nursing, an associate degree in Theology from Life Christian University, and more than thirty years’ experience in working with the public and customer service in different capacities. Angie resides in Woodlawn Virginia with her husband Robert and has four children and nine grandchildren.
